Our Story

Our Story

Reimagine Housing Society was founded in 2025 by a group of community-minded professionals with deep roots in social services, accessibility, and community development. The organization was born from a shared recognition that young adults leaving home—particularly those from marginalized, low-income, or equity-deserving communities—face immense barriers to accessing safe, affordable, and supportive housing in Vancouver’s high-cost market.

The founders, combining lived experience and professional expertise, envisioned a new kind of housing model: one that goes beyond shelter to foster community, connection, and stability through intentional design and long-term affordability.

Significant Milestones

  • 2025 — Reimagine Housing Society incorporated as a nonprofit in British Columbia

  • 2024–2025 — Project concept development begins for a 20-unit affordable rental building for young adults in transition to independence

  • 2025 — Launch of Reimagine Housing Foundation, a charitable arm to expand funding access and donor engagement

  • 2025 — Architectural partnership established with Reimagine Construction; planning begins for Phase 2: a senior cohousing building to promote intergenerational community

  • 2025 — Funding applications initiated under CMHC’s Apartment Construction Loan Program and other public and private partnerships
